We are excited to be offering a full contra dance weekend at the Monte Vista senior resort in the metro Phoenix area. The resort has privately owned modular homes and RV spaces with hookups within walking distance of the ballroom. There are numerous hotels and other residential resorts within a 5 mile radius of the resort, plus a county park and a state park within 15-25 minutes with camping and RV sites. There are also opportunities to be housed with local dancers.
The Monte Vista is a senior resort with over 800 units. The units are either small 1-2 bedroom modular homes or RV spaces. All units are within walking distance of the ballroom. Those staying in a home or RV space at the Monte Vista will have full access to all the resort’s amenities including the swimming pool, whirlpool/spa/hot tub, tennis court, business center, and library.
Renting a Home:
Most homes are privately owned.
The Monte Vista owns a few modular homes. Contact them at 480-833-2223, option 1 to inquire about renting units owned by the resort.
Some homeowners at Monte Vista and other nearby resorts may be willing to rent their unit for a weekend via AirBnB, VRBO, HomeAway, etc. When looking on vacation and / or rental housing sites, look for places in the Monte Vista Resort or at 8865 E. Baseline Rd. in Mesa AZ.
Monte Vista’s RV spaces include full hook ups. There are age and size restrictions for vehicles renting RV spaces. Tent camping isn’t allowed on-site. Go to the Monte Vista Resort website for more info. montevistaresort.com, or call 480-833-2223, option 1.
Housing At Nearby Resorts
There are a number or senior resorts within a few miles of the ballroom. Homeowners at other nearby resorts may be willing to rent their unit for a weekend. Most units in senior resorts are priced by the week or month, so you may need to contact several owners before finding one willing to rent for a weekend. The Monte Vista Resort is at 8865 E. Baseline Rd, Mesa AZ. It is just west of the intersection of Baseline Rd. and Ellsworth Rd, and just east of the intersection of the Rte. 60 and Loop 202 freeways.

Housing with Local Dancers
Dancers from outside the Phoenix area that would like to be housed with a local dancer are encouraged to directly contact dancers they know.
Or dancers can request help with getting housing through Desert Spring. When registering for the weekend, check the box to request housing with a local dancer. Once your registration has been completed, our housing coordinator will follow up with you on your request. Please note the following:
– Housing requests will not be finalized until about 3 weeks before the weekend.
– Most local dancers live 20 – 50 min from the hall.
