We hope you'll plan to join us for May Madness, the weekend of May 19, 20, & 21, 2017 in historic Clarkdale, Arizona. Come party with us southwestern style as we celebrate traditional music and dance in the Verde Valley of Arizona.
In addition to our traditional program of mostly contras in the main hall, tentative plans for the weekend include:
- a concert at Clarkdale's historic gazebo in the town park
- workshops on a variety of music, dance and other topics for dancers and musicians
- a silent auction of crafts, goodie baskets, and other items
- a clothing exchange.
The historic town of Clarkdale is located in the beautiful Verde Valley of Northern Arizona. Just 130 miles north of Phoenix and 60 miles south of Flagstaff, Clarkdale is nestled at 3,300 feet between Jerome and Cottonwood. The area has much to offer... nature, art, outdoor recreation (hiking, biking and river running), history and even wine tasting! Not only is Clarkdale a wonderful place to explore, but May often has good weather for outdoor activities in the area. You be tempted to spend a few extra days in the area before or after the weekend, so be sure to investigate your possibilities before you come.
To stay connected with other May Madness dancers, join our Facebook page. Here you can chat about getting or offering a ride, sharing rooms or campsites, exploring the area around Clarkdale, or just see who else is excited about the weekend.
